The first time you breathe underwater is an experience you will always remember.
A typical try dive involves learning some basic diving signals and techniques, with an introduction to the scuba equipment, followed by a practical in-water experience with a BSAC-qualified instructor.
A try dive is a good way to save time and money by finding out in advance if you like diving and want to continue.
Snorkelling is a great introduction to underwater sport and can be the first step towards scuba diving.
Snorkelling is great fun, easy to learn and an ideal way to build up confidence in the water. It introduces the wonders of the underwater world and is a perfect way for families to enjoy sport together.
It also uses simpler equipment than scuba diving.
The Adventure Diver course is an ‘enhanced’ try dive experience that gives credit towards the Discovery Diver or Ocean Diver qualification.
Discovery Diver is a subset of the Ocean Diver course, open to anyone aged 10 years upwards and able to swim 200m comfortably.
The Ocean Diver course is the entry level full scuba qualification open to anyone aged 12 years upwards.
Becoming a Sports Diver is the opportunity to progress your scuba diving qualifications, giving you the opportunity to perform longer, deeper dives with decompression stops, as well as learning enhanced rescue skills.
Dive Leaders are experienced divers with the motivation and desire to help trainees and novice divers on their underwater journey.
Dive Leaders have the skills to arrange group dive trips and deal with any unforeseen events.
Advanced Divers are amongst the most experienced divers, with the skills, experience and confidence to lead and manage more challenging diving activities and expeditions to new and unfamilair places and sites.
First Class Diver (FCD) is the pinnacle of BSAC's dive grades, reflecting a high level of theoretical knowledge, excellent organisational and personal diving and efficient dive management skills.
